New Hamburg ROMEOS Calling

The original purpose of the group was to bring together new neighbours who had moved from other parts of the Province of Ontario and also from other Provinces of Canada to our community of New Hamburg.

Initially the group was only composed of men from one street of the community but it has expanded to other areas as the need required. Initially the ROMEOS were run as a unique and isolated entity because the members had not been exposed to or were aware of the Organization's history and development. It only adopted the ROMEO name when it was found and referenced in a novel read by a member's wife.

The founding members then proceeded to allocate 'call signs' to each new participant based upon the Greek alphabet, Alpha to Omega, and grant a scroll to the new members.

Presently, we have 20 members as of January 1, 2013. This reflects a fluctuation of new and removed members from our inception. We may have to find a new alphabet very soon to maintain newer 'call signs'!!

Romeo Luncheon, January 26, 2012

Congratulations Romeos,

The trip to The Nith Chop House in Wellesley was successful.

Our group was small today, but what a great bunch of Romeos.

At this time of year we do lack a fair amount of members because
they are for the most part down south and away from the cold weather
at this time of year. Still, your fellowship makes up for this when we
get together.

Our newer members certainly bring much to the group; namely, Rick,
Bob and Jon. Together with Phil, our professor in residence, it was a
great outing.

The food was excellent and the company warm. Let's do it again!

Romeo Luncheon, January 12, 2012

Happy New Year to All

Another year has passed and a new one has now started for the Romeos.

After welcoming some new members to our Chapter we are now at a total
membership of 22 as of now.

Of course some of our members are regular snowbirds who spend 6 months
in Florida and points south.
Two more members are leaving this week for the warm climates in Florida,
Mexico and the Dominican Republic for a few weeks holidays.

Our weather so far this winter has been exceptionally warm with only a dusting
of snow which is in contrast to last year at this time.

As a start to the year, the committee has chosen the Boar's Head in Stratford for lunch.
This helps 2 of the members who sing with a Kiwanis group to not only
have lunch but be in the area to join the 'golden oldies' who will entertain at a
retirement home at 2:00pm in Stratford.

A Pleasant Group

As usual, Phil couldn't wait for his dessert and what a mouthful it was!

Phil takes a Stand

Our newest member Jon, recounted the interesting life he enjoyed while
still working. A degree in Physical Education, where he was involved with
the RCAF and the school system, as well as the many moves to various parts
of the province in and outside of Ontario. His recent move to Stonecroft
has been a pleasant experience and the Romeos' welcomes him to our group.

We look forward to our next outing in 2 weeks.
