New Hamburg ROMEOS Calling

The original purpose of the group was to bring together new neighbours who had moved from other parts of the Province of Ontario and also from other Provinces of Canada to our community of New Hamburg.

Initially the group was only composed of men from one street of the community but it has expanded to other areas as the need required. Initially the ROMEOS were run as a unique and isolated entity because the members had not been exposed to or were aware of the Organization's history and development. It only adopted the ROMEO name when it was found and referenced in a novel read by a member's wife.

The founding members then proceeded to allocate 'call signs' to each new participant based upon the Greek alphabet, Alpha to Omega, and grant a scroll to the new members.

Presently, we have 20 members as of January 1, 2013. This reflects a fluctuation of new and removed members from our inception. We may have to find a new alphabet very soon to maintain newer 'call signs'!!

Romeo Lunch, January 24, 2013

The Romeos spent their second lunch of the New Year at Montanas Restaurant
in Kitchener on Ottawa Street.

In attendance were 10 members, which was an excellent turnout, considering
the time of the year and the Snow Bird impact.

It was good to have George join us today after getting time away from curling.

Ivan was as always at his best when flirting with the waitress. He ended up with
2 pints of lager and only paid for one. We must pay more attention to his madness.

After our toast we were entertained by Ron with his beta jokes. Winners again.

In all we had a very pleasant lunch and Beta called upon all present members to
forward their favourite lunch locations in order for the Committee to consider
going back.
