New Hamburg ROMEOS Calling

The original purpose of the group was to bring together new neighbours who had moved from other parts of the Province of Ontario and also from other Provinces of Canada to our community of New Hamburg.

Initially the group was only composed of men from one street of the community but it has expanded to other areas as the need required. Initially the ROMEOS were run as a unique and isolated entity because the members had not been exposed to or were aware of the Organization's history and development. It only adopted the ROMEO name when it was found and referenced in a novel read by a member's wife.

The founding members then proceeded to allocate 'call signs' to each new participant based upon the Greek alphabet, Alpha to Omega, and grant a scroll to the new members.

Presently, we have 20 members as of January 1, 2013. This reflects a fluctuation of new and removed members from our inception. We may have to find a new alphabet very soon to maintain newer 'call signs'!!

Romeo Lunch, August 23, 2012

This week we visited the Festival Inn Restaurant in Stratford.

In attendance were 8 Chapter members and 1 guest.

Our guest was a good friend of Carl who was staying with him
for a few days. Rob was visiting Carl and Norma from their home
in Staynor which is north of Barrie.
They leave when they :
1. Overstay their visit or
2. Carl runs out of Wiseners
Whichever comes first.

As usual we left for lunch around 11:15am and drove to Stratford.
The staff at the Inn had reserved a table for us in the very unique
solarium room that has the water cascading down over the glass
roof panelling. Very soothing for the boistrous group attending.

         Carl                                                      Rob                               Ken 'Gamma'
         George                                                                                       Dennis
         Bob                                                                                               Ken 'Omega'
         Ivan                                                                                              Jack

The Jokes of the day were presented by Bob, Jack, Carl and Rob. Yuk, Yuk to all for their presentations.

As you can see, you can't ask for a better ambiance for such a refined group.

Thanks to the drivers (Ken, Rob, Dennis) for their transportation.

The Committee was pleased to welcome Jack back to the outing  and by the response from its members.

We shall return.

Romeo Lunch, August 9, 2012

This Thursday, the members decided to lunch at Kennedy's Pub in St. Agatha.

It has been awhile since we last visited this cosy Irish pub and its great beers.

We placed our orders with Suzette and were seated before any of the regulars
arrived. It's like we all know each other even though it has been some time since we were there.

As usual, the food is great and the beer, wine, etc. was refreshing. We even had
members order a Bloody Mary as well as the normal Wisener and pepsi.

Thanks to John Fenwick and Carl who drove the members to lunch where we met Phil after his appointment.
