New Hamburg ROMEOS Calling

The original purpose of the group was to bring together new neighbours who had moved from other parts of the Province of Ontario and also from other Provinces of Canada to our community of New Hamburg.

Initially the group was only composed of men from one street of the community but it has expanded to other areas as the need required. Initially the ROMEOS were run as a unique and isolated entity because the members had not been exposed to or were aware of the Organization's history and development. It only adopted the ROMEO name when it was found and referenced in a novel read by a member's wife.

The founding members then proceeded to allocate 'call signs' to each new participant based upon the Greek alphabet, Alpha to Omega, and grant a scroll to the new members.

Presently, we have 20 members as of January 1, 2013. This reflects a fluctuation of new and removed members from our inception. We may have to find a new alphabet very soon to maintain newer 'call signs'!!

We were also given an update by Jon on his future plans in the Community.
Sadly, he and Nancy are returning to Calgary where they will be with Family.
This will be Jon's last Romeo lunch before he heads west on the long road trip.
All of us wish him and Nancy the very best.

It was also confirmed that our next Romeo Lunch, December 13, 2012, will be a
joint co-ed Christmas lunch to be held jointly with the Romeos and Juliets at
the Stratford Festival Inn. Seating will be arranged in the Solarium Room.

The Committee looks forward to hosting this special seasonal event.

Romeo Luncheon, November 15, 2012

The Romeos met at the Waterloo Arms in New Hamburg today.
With drinks and a fine lunch we were able to enjoy this location once more.
Marilyn dropped off Phil and Elaine delivered Bob in good time.
The car pooling was used to get the other members to the pub.
Those in attendance were: Ken, Ron, Jack, Dennis. Rick, John, and Charlie.
Some members were missing because of trips going South or a personal nature.
A good time was had by all.

Romeo Luncheon, November 1, 2012

Our Lunch outing this week was to experience the old German
Concordia Restaurant in Kitchener at Ottawa and Homer Watson.

Concordia Club KW

Today we went to experience the fine menu and beer available in the Schenke Restaurant with the hope of meeting some members of the German Women's Soccer Team rumoured to be visiting. Go Team Go.
Can you believe that we just missed them!!! Something about having to change.

Today, we welcomed our newest member to the group, namely Charlie Klager.

Charlie  and his wife Jan are fairly new residents to our community and we wish them well. Charlie is our first member from Phase 5 at Stonecroft.

After receiving his official certificate as a new bona fide member of the
Romeos, Charlie gave a brief bio of his life before Stonecroft.

We look forward to having 'Zeta' join us at future lunches.
