New Hamburg ROMEOS Calling

The original purpose of the group was to bring together new neighbours who had moved from other parts of the Province of Ontario and also from other Provinces of Canada to our community of New Hamburg.

Initially the group was only composed of men from one street of the community but it has expanded to other areas as the need required. Initially the ROMEOS were run as a unique and isolated entity because the members had not been exposed to or were aware of the Organization's history and development. It only adopted the ROMEO name when it was found and referenced in a novel read by a member's wife.

The founding members then proceeded to allocate 'call signs' to each new participant based upon the Greek alphabet, Alpha to Omega, and grant a scroll to the new members.

Presently, we have 20 members as of January 1, 2013. This reflects a fluctuation of new and removed members from our inception. We may have to find a new alphabet very soon to maintain newer 'call signs'!!

Special Dinner May 3, 2011

Calling All Romeos,

A special dinner was arranged for our member 'llamda'(Phil Thomas).

We thank our 'gamma'(Ken Mulholland) for organizing this function which is a first for the Romeos.

The dinner was held at Jake and Humphreys in downtown New Hamburg at 6:00pm.

In attendance were 8 Romeos and a guest. The invited guest was Rick Kieswetter who was a pleasant surprise at our outing and was invited to our regular Thursday lunches when he could find the time.

We were glad that we were able to entertain Phil and Rick for a brief time while they batched it at home.

The meal at the bistro was elegant and tailored to our needs as a group.

Once again, a great time was had by all and this feature should be considered in the future.

Inviting the Juliets on a 'special' occasion for dinner might be considered by the Romeos.
