New Hamburg ROMEOS Calling

The original purpose of the group was to bring together new neighbours who had moved from other parts of the Province of Ontario and also from other Provinces of Canada to our community of New Hamburg.

Initially the group was only composed of men from one street of the community but it has expanded to other areas as the need required. Initially the ROMEOS were run as a unique and isolated entity because the members had not been exposed to or were aware of the Organization's history and development. It only adopted the ROMEO name when it was found and referenced in a novel read by a member's wife.

The founding members then proceeded to allocate 'call signs' to each new participant based upon the Greek alphabet, Alpha to Omega, and grant a scroll to the new members.

Presently, we have 20 members as of January 1, 2013. This reflects a fluctuation of new and removed members from our inception. We may have to find a new alphabet very soon to maintain newer 'call signs'!!

Romeo Lunch, May 16, 2013

Today we lunched in Stratford at Frankie's Lounge which is part of the
Festival Inn.

With a complement of 12 members and one guest the group descended
on the Lounge where we were the only patrons. As such, it was like a
private function with our own waitress and bar keeper.

Our guest was Bill McNeilly who was visiting Joan and Dennis Savage
in New Hamburg. Bill and Lorraine( Joan's sister), were visiting from
Qualicom Beach on Vancouver Island. It was a pleasure to see Bill at the
lunch and he was well received by all our members present. Bill read the
joke of the day to the group after the drinks were served.

It was also great that Carl could join us for lunch and still get to his rehab.
He is doing just fine and as usual, looks terrific.

All in all, it was a good outing for everyone.
