New Hamburg ROMEOS Calling

The original purpose of the group was to bring together new neighbours who had moved from other parts of the Province of Ontario and also from other Provinces of Canada to our community of New Hamburg.

Initially the group was only composed of men from one street of the community but it has expanded to other areas as the need required. Initially the ROMEOS were run as a unique and isolated entity because the members had not been exposed to or were aware of the Organization's history and development. It only adopted the ROMEO name when it was found and referenced in a novel read by a member's wife.

The founding members then proceeded to allocate 'call signs' to each new participant based upon the Greek alphabet, Alpha to Omega, and grant a scroll to the new members.

Presently, we have 20 members as of January 1, 2013. This reflects a fluctuation of new and removed members from our inception. We may have to find a new alphabet very soon to maintain newer 'call signs'!!

Romeo Luncheon, February 23, 2012

Our Lunch outing this week was to experience the old German
Concordia Restaurant in Kitchener at Ottawa and Homer Watson.

Concordia Club KW

Most of you have enjoyed Octoberfest in this location at some time
in the past few years in the big hall.

Today we went to experience the fine menu and beer available in
the Schenke Restaurant area.

The members were few but we found the conversation easy to include
all at the round table.

As predicted the meals were varied and huge or senior size.

The drinks served first, were both pleasant and refreshing.

It was suggested that the group return again, especially to the outdoor
patio in the spring or summer.
